2016 Plans

2015 was an interesting year for me. I finally got Kevin Toms Football out on the market for iOS and I have been able to steadily improve the playability of that game. The process of doing that, looking at the game, deciding what will make it more fun, and implementing those things, was a process that reassured me about using my games design skills incrementally. The current version is a healthy improvement on the release version.

I also put out the idea of rewriting the original 1980s Football Manager for modern mobiles and got such a good response to the idea that I even experimented with a Kickstarter for it. Despite the Kickstarter not succeeding that rewrite has momentum and 2016 will see the release of the rewrite.

In 2016, in the first couple of months, I will release a version of the rewrite of 1980s Football Manager. This game will develop incrementally and be on multiple formats, Android, iOS etc.

I love the experience of developing a game incrementally with people playing it, and for this new game, I will build that into the game itself.

2016 will be a fun games writing year for me.

I wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all

Tuning the Kevin Toms Football Game

I have been tuning the game regularly and each version it gets better.

I have just sent version 1.5 to Apple for approval. This version was gameplay tuned by me, and I think that had a good impact. I play it myself on Skill Level 7 with Bournemouth in the Premier League. I came second last season after Arsenal, but struggling so far this season…

My Games Career relaunch, in August :)

Kevin Toms Football is out on the App Store.

This is my first new game in a long time, and it was fun to write, more so over time. So my enthusiasm to continue games development is high and is a return to my roots creating Football Manager. From August on I will be spending most of my time enhancing, and updating Kevin Toms Football. This is a relaunch into writing games for me 🙂

Kevin Toms Football – renaming the game, why?

Why rename a game from Football Team Coach to Kevin Toms Football? That is what I did with release 1.0.1 of the game on iOS. Firstly, several people told me they could not find the game on the App Store. As far as I can see now, all you have to is search for my name, Kevin Toms, and you find it. http://bit.ly/KTFUK1, So that is a plus. Secondly, a number of people said I should identify myself more closely with the game, like I did on the original Football Manager. I still strongly believe in the principles that drove me to do that. So it was an easy decision. As Jeff Minter @llamasoft_ox said, it is the naming equivalent of adding the floating head! Lol!
